History
Faber and Faber was founded in 1925, as Faber and Gwyer, in England. The firm focused on poetry, publishing works from TS Eliot and Ezra Pound. The name was changed to Faber and Faber in 1929, and continued to do a vigorous business in several genres. It is one of the last independent publishing houses in London... an imprint or division of no larger conglomerate! As one of the most respected names in British publishing, the press brought authors such as P.D. James and Lawrence Durrell to the literary stage.
