Uber User Posts: 456 | Yep - more Vance is needed, lots more!! Also, perhaps Damon Knight's last book, Humpty Dumpty: An Oval (1996) can be added. It's a great book, and a hugely surprising book for anyone expecting just a last-gasp effort from a played-out old-timer. Instead, it's a surreal tour de force - nothing at all like what you might expect from an old-school stalwart. I highly recommend it.

Admin Posts: 4005 Location: Dallas, Texas | You guys are certainly keeping us on our toes! Here are the last 100 books to be added to the DB. These are mostly Grand Master books but also mixed in are a bunch of Overlooked books, email requests and some new and old stuff that we thought was of interest. I don't have time to seperate these out so here they are in one big lump. There are lots from Philip Jose Farmer, Harry Harrison and Ray Bradbury (among others) in this list.
I'll add these other books, Vance and Knight etc., to the new list for the next round of updates. Happy reading!

Member Posts: 26 Location: Florida | Administrator - 2012-01-22 5:30 PM We're total completists around here too so it's all gonna get in there eventually. I get a little freaked out when I discover that a series I thought we had complete turns out to have 2 more books that we missed! So, for instance, you'll be seeing Fortress of Dragons and Fortress of Ice by C. J. Cherryh pop in there soon. I'll troll through the series pages just to find those missing books sometimes. OK, OK, I know they are not grandmaster books, but you are missing 3 books (or at least related books) from one of my favorite series of all time. Jack Chalker's Well World Series. While technically a different story arc than the original series, they were published between "Twilight at the Well of Souls" and "The Sea is Full of Stars". So, when you get around to it, they at least completes the stories in this very, very interesting universe. Michael

Member Posts: 26 Location: Washington state | I just realized I requested the addition of The World at the End of Time by Frederik Pohl back on January 23, and it's managed to be missed in all subsequent updates. I'd like to read it/count it, so I thought I'd mention it again. (please and thank you)

Admin Posts: 4005 Location: Dallas, Texas | Hey all, sorry 'bout the wait on some of these books. We're going to play a little catch up this week. Here's what's on my list to have added by Monday:
We actually have more Jack Vance videos than we have Jack Vance books! This batch will correct that imballance.

Member Posts: 11 | Any chance of adding some of Damon Knight's nonfiction? I think Creating Short Fiction is a great book on writing short stories that deserves to get highlighted. http://www.amazon.com/Creating-Short-Fiction-Classic-Writing/dp/031... Also, I have read Nightwings by Robert Silverberg, wouldn't mind adding it to my list. http://www.amazon.com/Nightwings-Robert-Silverberg/dp/B0068EQ0HE/re...

Admin Posts: 4005 Location: Dallas, Texas | @justifiedsinner: Thanks and no problem. More books to come! @JamesVirgil: Those sound like some interesting titles but I'm not sure it's time for us to expand in that direction yet. There is so much fiction we have to get to first it may be some time before we get around to the nonfiction. @SarahPi: No problem on Why Do Birds. I've added it to my list so you should see it early next week. I'm glad to hear you're going to read Knight. I'm reading Far Out right now for the challenge. I'm still kicking myself for not making Damon Knight required for the challenge! By the way, welcome to WWEnd, Sarah! It's great to see that you've gone to town with BookTrackr. You're not showing on the GMRC page yet. If you add Damon Knight to your challange that will get you on the list.

New User Posts: 4 | Thanks! A friend just told me about your site and the challenge a couple of days ago. I figured it would help me knock out a few books that have been languishing on my shelves forever, and a few authors I've always meant to read. I've read some Knight stories, but never a novel.
