History
In 1890, in Covent Garden, London, William Heinemann founded his eponymous publishing firm, and grew it over the next 30 years to one of the most well- respected book businesses in Britain. Harcourt eventually came to own them, but carried on their tradition of backlist excellence, and today the William Heinemann imprint produces great fiction and non- fiction titles out of the U.K.
