Synopsis
In a far corner of the cosmos, the ship squatted, tired and still, at the foremost end of an ashy blast-track.
Steve Ander--astronaut--and his traveling companion, Laura--macaw--find themselves marooned on an alien planet where every creature and plant is an individually unique specimen. Unnerved by the strangely eerie atmosphere, Ander begins an urgent search for fuel for his spacecraft, and so encounters a mysterious and frightening golden haze--a shaft of glowing, lustrous mist bearing a sprinkling of glittering stars. It is like nothing known or recorded by any form of sentient life lower than the Gods, and seems to threaten his very existence...
Like Nothing on Earth is an outstanding collection of shor tstories from Eric Frank Russell, one of the enduringly great names in modern science fiction.
