Exciting stuff. I'll have more to contribute after actually reading the novel within the next few days!

Alright so I'm well into the first book and, wow, this is going to be either the most innovative movie in recent memory or an awkward flop! I could see Ridley Scott taking over and making this something like a Promethus, or if in lesser hands it might become a Congo reboot at best.

This book is freaking awesome! Almost finished, crazy excited to read the next two. Very well done, the movie(s) have huge potential.

Wow! Awesome book. I hope whoever makes the movie doesn't screw it up. I've seen too many mediocre movies made from awesome books.

Definitely, apparently the coming books radically change the nature of the story so it is hard to say exactly what the end product could look like. Few details are out so there are a lot of variables that would contribute to the success or failure of a potential movie.

When it comes to adaptations of books I've read, I never get my hopes up, and am very occasionally pleasantly surprised. This book is certainly an interesting choice...

Here are a few more:

SL is right most are clearly more 'conventional' narrative choices. Others like the SRT are not.

Apparently The Martian may be getting Matt Damon treatment, if that matters to you.
