Admin Posts: 4005 Location: Dallas, Texas | I'll get these books added this weekend, along with a bunch of requests that have come in from the Overlooked books thread and via email. I'm going to give preference to Grand Master books so they'll be there for you guys to tag for your challenge. I've got about 60 or so titles on my list right now. I suspect I'll get at least 20 in this weekend.

Uber User Posts: 794 | There are a lot of missing Jack Vance books. The Demon Prince series is a classic: The Star King, The Killing Machine, The Palace of Love, The Face and The Book of Dreams. The Planet of Adventure series: City of the Chasch, Servants of the Wankh (he didn't know what this meant in British English), The Dirdir and The Pnume. The Alastor series: Trullion - Alastor 2262, Marune - Alastor 933, and Wyst - Alastor 1716. Also the Durdane series: The Anome, The Brave Frre Men, and The Asutra.

But which one are you planning to read for the Challenge? Surely that's the important factor here, rather than just loading our poor Admin with extra work? I bought a load of Vance over Christmas, in the SFGateway sale, and already had the complete Lyonesse waiting on my Kindle, but I haven't decided which one of his I'm going to read, yet. (Not on the site and not in your list: Araminta Station, The Blue World.)

Uber User Posts: 263 Location: Gunnison, Colorado | @DrNefario. Your comment saddens me, since I also want to load up on Vance (and lots of other books) from the SF Gateway, but most of them can't be purchased in the U.S. Why don't these authors/agents/publishers want my money? (Not a question I expect anyone here to be able to answer!) Of the Vance that I have read, The Languages of Pao is a favorite... Edited by Scott Laz 2012-01-23 3:08 PM

Uber User Posts: 794 | @DrNeafrio. This is a wonderful site and I hope we are not burning out the people behind the scenes but like, I suspect, a lot of SF fans I am a compulsive listophile and completist. A lot of the Grand Masters greatest works were published before the Hugos and Nebulas started and so it's inevitable that a lot is going to be missing. I haven't read the Cadwal series of which Araminta Station is the first I will have to add it to my list!. The Blue World is also one I haven't read. If you are into Vance I would recommend The Demon Princes series - his best in my estimation.

Uber User Posts: 770 Location: SC, USA | I've actually started a document on my computer called Wishlist for WWE. I've been adding books and hoping that I can squeeze a few requests in when the guys aren't so busy. At least I'm not forgetting the books!

Admin Posts: 4005 Location: Dallas, Texas | Hey guys, don't sweat the book requests. We're just happy ya'll are paying attention. I'll typically add a bunch of books by the same author together because it's easier to do the data entry that way so no worries. I didn't get any books added last weekend because of family and work etc. but I did get a ton more book covers together. That's a mindless activity that I really enjoy. So much great cover art out there! We're total completists around here too so it's all gonna get in there eventually. I get a little freaked out when I discover that a series I thought we had complete turns out to have 2 more books that we missed! So, for instance, you'll be seeing Fortress of Dragons and Fortress of Ice by C. J. Cherryh pop in there soon. I'll troll through the series pages just to find those missing books sometimes.

I will say further that if you write bad ass reviews like Rhondak101 your book requests will move up my list precipitously!

Uber User Posts: 770 Location: SC, USA | Well! Since I have a bit of a cache here, I'll pop my list on: Mary Shelley, The Last Man Harlan Ellison, Angry Candy Nnedi Okorafor Akata Witch (YA), Zahrah the Windseeker (YA) and The Shadow Speaker (YA) Octavia Butler Dawn, Adulthood Rites, and Imago--These are the Xenogenesis (or Lilith's Brood) series Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea, The Illuminatus Trilogy (usually in one volume) Robert Anton Wilson The Schrodinger's Cat Trilogy (also one volume) Robert Anton Wilson The Earth Will Shake, The Widow's Son, and Nature's God--These are the Historical Illuminatus Trilogy. I don't think that they are in one volume. I plan to review the Okorafor and Butler novels for Outside the Norm. (Maybe the Shelley, too.) Thanks Rhonda

Member Posts: 11 Location: Karachi, Pakistan | Hello, I've chosen some of the grand masters for my challenge and was browsing through others. Anyway, I noticed a few books missing which I thought I would suggest. Firstly, Ray Bradbury, who was a seminal SF author when it came to develop my interest in the genre and in reading generally at an early age. Some suggested books: Death is a Lonely Business Golden Apples of the Sun A Graveyard for Lunatics Quicker Than the Eye The October Country The Halloween Tree Farewell Summer (which is a sort of sequel to Dandelion Wine) In fact now that I've looked it up, I've just discovered that Bradbury has 4 books in his 'Green Town' setting which are: 1. Dandelion Wine 2. Farewell Summer 3. Something Wicked This Way Comes 4. Summer Morning, Summer Night http://www.librarything.com/series/Green+Town So perhaps that's one for the 'series list' as well! Another Grand Master on my reading list is James E. Gunn. unfortunately there are only 3 books by him in the database. Other books I would suggest are: The Joy Makers The Immortals The Dreamers Finally Harry Harrison. Now there are a large number of Harrison's books in the database but almost all are from either the Stainless Steel Rat or Bill the Galactic Hero series, so I would suggest a few more: A Transatlantic Tunnel, Hurrah! The Hammer and the Cross The Technicolor Time Machine Planet of the Damned The Eden Series: 1. West of Eden 2. Winter in Eden 3. Return to Eden http://www.librarything.com/series/West+of+Eden and the Stars and Stripes series: 1. Stars and Stripes Forever 2. Stars and Stripes in Peril 3. Stars and Stripes Triumphant http://www.librarything.com/series/Stars+%2526+Stripes
