Random quote: My pass had disappeared. Not that I believed for a moment that this was an accident; in fact, I had suspected for some time now that the Cosmic Command, obviously no longer able to supervise every assignment on an individual basis when there were literally trillions of matters in its charge, had switched over to a random system. The assumption would be that every document, circulating endlessly from desk to desk, must eventually hit upon the right one. A time-consuming procedure, perhaps, but one that would never fail. The Universe itself operated on the same principle. And for an institution as everlasting as the Universe certainly our Building was such an institution the speed at which these meanderings and perturbations took place was of no consequence. - Stanislaw Lem (Memoirs Found in a Bathtub)

Having decided that Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle probably isn't young adult, it has been moved to the adult Best Novel category. When I first saw it in the YA category, I was thinking of getting it to see what the author of the Space Raptor Butt Trilogy would consider a YA novel.

Has anyone read Camp Damascus? Is worth getting/reading?

I picked up Camp Damascus out of curiosity, being a fan of Chuck Tingle's previous works. It's definitely not young adult material, but if you appreciate his irreverent style and enjoy unconventional storytelling, it's worth giving a read

@dinosaur game I appreciate "Camp Damascus" for its unexpected depth, its handling of sensitive topics, and Tingle's ability to create a truly unsettling atmosphere. It's considered Tingle's bold move into a different genre, and many find it engaging and thought-provoking.

I'm impressed with Chuck Tingle's work, and Camp Damascus is a YA book. The freestyle storytelling and development style is generally youthful and appropriate for young people.
