Extreme Veteran Posts: 556 Location: Great Lakes, USA | Here's a new thread for the New Books of 2014 Challenge which finishes in July. I added more slots since it seems that some of us are reading more than the required 8 books.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 556 Location: Great Lakes, USA | It's still only 8 books to finish. I don't think it would be fair to make it more now. But, some people are reading more than 8 and if people want to use this to find Hugo nominees, this will give them a bigger list. If people are offended, I can put it back.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 306 | We are completists! I actually thought I just miscounted the slots-but happy to put the 2014 published books all in one place. Thanx

Uber User Posts: 237 Location: Grootfontein, Namibia | This challenge should extend past July 2015. I've come across some stunning 2014 books but won't get through them before the deadline. Nonetheless, you should all read A Darkling Sea. . Edited by Emil 2015-03-07 7:49 AM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 306 | Enjoying a Darkling Sea right now. I have recently read Cherryh's Faded Sun trilogy and the theme of assumptions and misunderstandings between differing cultures is similar. A message for our times.

But reading something that does not serve towards a reading goal does not compute well with my compulsive-obsessive personality

Uber User Posts: 526 Location: UK | An extremely productive weekend for me, finishing three challenges with three books. I had decided to try to finish the second iteration of this challenge, with 16 books and a deadline of July. I have plenty of great 2014 books still to read, but we're getting too late to worry about awards season now, so I didn't see the point of going up another level. Anyway, I didn't rate Authority as highly as Annihilation. Basically because it was longer, which made it more annoying in its lack of drive. If anything can happen, how can you anticipate anything, and get any momentum going?

Veteran Posts: 111 Location: Austin, Tx | Congrats on finishing! I ended up finishing this one and then increasing my challenge level at the same time as I increased my challenge level for Women of Genre Fiction. I ended up picking up a lot of 2014 debut fiction by ladies on Kindle, so, to punish myself?/make up for buying so many books, I decided that I needed to get them read.
