A notion that got batted around one of the Futures list serve this month was the idea that we (Americans in particular) can more easily imagine the end of the world, than we can imagine the end of the capitalism system. (See this years crop of summer block busters for reference.) And yet, when you really start doing high level trend analysis and possible outcomes, there's nothing intrinsically improbable. It's possible, some would even say a preferred future.
