Biography

Naomi Alderman grew up in London and attended Oxford University and UEA.

She is the author of four novels: Disobedience, The Lessons, The Liars' Gospel and the forthcoming speculative work The Power. Her first novel, Disobedience, was published in ten languages and each of her published literary novels were broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Book at Bedtime. She has won the Orange Award for New Writers and the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award. She was selected for Granta's once-a-decade list of Best of Young British Authors, Waterstones Writers for the Future, and was mentored by Margaret Atwood as part of the Rolex Mentor and Protégée Arts Initiative.

Naomi has published prize-winning short fiction in Prospect, Woman and Home, the Sunday Express and a number of anthologies and in 2009 was shortlisted for the BBC National Short Story Award. In 2011 she wrote the Doctor Who tie-in novel Borrowed Time. From 2004 to 2007 Naomi was lead writer on the BAFTA-shortlisted alternate reality game Perplex City. In 2008 she wrote the Alice in Storyland game for Penguin's online We Tell Stories project, and her most recent online work is 'The Winter House'.

She presents Science Stories on BBC Radio 4, she is Professor of Creative Writing at Bath Spa University and she is the co-creator and lead writer of the bestselling smartphone audio adventure app Zombies, Run!
