Biography

In keeping with the traditions of the literary racket, Richard A. Lupoff has practiced many professions. In no particular order he has been a dish washer, a college professor, a soldier, a filmmaker, a newspaperman, a short-order cook, a federal bureaucrat, a radio broadcaster, a music critic, and an anthologist.

One of the most versatile and popular of modern authors, he has written more than fifty books as well as uncounted short stories, screenplays, television scripts and magazine features. He holds the rare distinction of having stories selected for Best of the Year anthologies in three fields - science fiction, mystery, and horror. His novels and collections include Sword of the Demon, Space War Blues, Circumpolar!, Sun's End, One Murder at a Time, and Quintet: The Cases of Chase and Delacroix.

His critical works include All in Color for a Dime, The Comic Book Book, Master of Adventure: The Worlds of Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Barsoom. Recipient of many honors, he takes particular pride in the Now Let us Praise Lurid Trash Award, presented by the Dallas Morning News in recognition of The Great American Paperback.
