Biography
Dennis Schuetz was born on December 30th, 1946, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He graduated from Parkersburg High School and West Virginia University, then moved to Maryland where he taught special education. He later moved to Boston where he worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as office manager for the Office of Affirmative Action.
His real calling, however, was writing. In Boston, he attended the Orson Wells Film School and thus began a career in fiction writing.
In 1978, Dennis began collaboration with Michael McDowell, which resulted in the publication of six novels. Under the pseudonym Nathan Aldyne, he co-wrote four entries in the Valentine and Clarisse series of detective mysteries.
Two other novels, Blood Rubies and Wicked Stepmother, appeared under the name Axel Young. He also wrote occasionally for Bay Windows and wrote articles, reviews and magazine fiction.
In 1985, Dennis' episode, "Answer Me," aired on Tales from the Darkside. Tales was a TV series created by George A. Romero.
Dennis was part of a local author group known as the Cadavers. On May 17, 1988, the Cadavers gave an interview with BBC Radio 4 entitled "Cadavers at Our House."
He died on May 5th, 1989, in Boston, at the age of 42.
