History
Analog Science Fiction and Fact, generally referred to as just "Analog", is generally agreed to be the granddaddy of all science fiction magazines.
In 1930, "Astounding Stories of Super Science" began publication as a monthly magazine of science fiction: low printing quality, poor materials, uncomplicated stories and melodramatic covers were the order of the day. In 1933, a company called Street & Smith purchased the magazine and published it as just "Astounding Stories", growing the magazine's story quality and readership.
The late 30's and 40's saw a blossoming of quality for the magazine, under legendary editor John W. Campbell, and Analog became the preeminent monthly publication of the genre. Analog was also reprinted in Britain, under the name "Analog Science Fiction". Analog is now a member of the Dell Magazine Group, and continues to this day to enhance the world of Science Fiction by bringing us stories from the established veterans of the field, as well as work from new authors.
Submission Details
Analog SF accepts solicited as well as unsolicited material; focuses on stories with believable characters. "No fantasy or stories in which the sceintific background is implausible or plays no essential role."
