This is a story of a young woman, Glory, who is coming to terms with her difficult life. On the cusp of High School graduation, this intelligent and inquisitive protagonist wants to understand the tragic history of her family while seeking a way ahead to her own future. As it happens, she and her best friend Ellie start to have visions of peoples' futures. Watching people in public, they see details of their pasts and futures as well as details of their ancestors and progeny. Many of the visions show their involvement with important historical events. To Glory, this reveals an alarming turbulent future. In her present, Glory faces many social and economic roadblocks. She approaches them with a strong desire to understand, and then, with efforts to resolve issues. I like the portrayal that Glory has a simple, honest feminist viewpoint of today's world. It is her values that propel her to take control of her life here and now regardless of her visions of the future.
