Read in three parts; see individual reviews for more detail.

Each book was a collection of two stories; mathematics (and psycho-history) play a big part in the entire series. Each of the stories has clever intrigues (though the reverse psychology goes over the top in the third book). As individual books, I thought the first was definitely the best.

The overall theme was good things falling apart, though the third book ends with one being rescued. Women in general are not well characterized, and the two women who play such a vital role in the 2nd and 3rd books are counter examples.

Other books are available, including prequels and sequels by Asimov himself.
