Another of Asaro's odd mix or hard SF, space opera and mild S & M romantic fiction. The SF is particularly hard since her plot is based on some very difficult theories of quantum particle interactions, the romance not as S & M as several of her others. For some unaccountable reason this won the Nebula - a Mills and Boon Puppy slate perhaps?
