Sure it was an entertaining read but it didn't exactly reach out and grab my interest at any point.

Possibly the best non-Science Fiction, Science Fiction Award winning book I've intentionally read as such. After struggling through a few others I was planning on burning this novel for its obvious lack of SF but I really can't - the appeal is the narrative not the SF.

As far as I can tell this is a fairly personal and honest biographical novel of the authors youth.

Much more novel-like and personal than the books I typically read. Does appear to borrow heavily from other genre fiction I have read - meaning I think I've read a diarization of a young woman's life and this reminds me exactly of that.

Absolutely stacked with fantasy and scifi book references.

Closely personal at times, maybe uncomfortably, and at the expense of the progression of the plot. Hard to finish.

3.5/5

Cheers,

O.
