Comedy-thriller? Horror-humor? This story is a genre crossing bit with some fun characters and a lot of caricatured antagonists.
A catspaw used to refer to one who was the unwitting tool of another, and it is also our protagonist's name. I looked for that relevance here but didn't find it. Benny is who he is, and nobody is trying to use him to achieve something - not even Spike. I liked Harper as a character, and Bob also - even though he was sidelined for most of the book.
Whenever things got dark, some humor cropped up. The author also dropped in little side notes, breaking the fourth wall as it were. Recommended by a friend, I'm glad I read it, and I liked it.
