Pretty standard Stephen King. Written in his typical engaging, immersive style. Brings up some of his pet themes and images - the business of being a commerically successful artist/writer, the challenges of being both a well-off, straight white man and a good person, the temptations of infanticide, telepathy between unrelated adults and children, the folksy charms and distrubing secrets of small-town life, and (of course) ghosts. I wouldn't recommend it over Carrie or The Shining (whcih I think are his best), but it's good if you want an undemanding, familiar-feeling, page-turner beach read. (Note: As there are no referencs to virus outbreaks in thsi book, it also makes for a good COVID-19 quarantine read.)
