Macsen Against the Jugger

I've read several novellas and novels by this author now, and I feel that they're pretty consistently strong in terms of worldbuilding but less so in terms of plot and character development. This one reads like a transcript of a role-playing game to me, but is worth reading for the worldbuilding.
