Death's End

I loved this series. However this last book, I thought, he took it too far into the future. I think it would have been a stronger book if the universe wasn't so bleak and humanity had found some way to survive. As it is, he carried it out til the bitter end of our universe and beyond. If Cheng Xin, wasn't hibernating, with occasional awake periods in which she is somehow still a main character, even when hundreds of years have gone by, she is trapped in a space ship as the universe winds down.

The science of this series manages to have the sense of wonder that I truly enjoy, however the people, not necessarily singly, but as a whole, humanity, make some really bonehead moves. There are scenes in each book where I wanted to throw the book against the wall and give it up, but then a page or two further and Gosh, Wow! I'm back to the sense of wonder that really good SF instills. This series is time consuming, but overall a satisfying read. I do recommend it to anyone that likes a sense of wonder, you'll find it aplenty.
