| Man, just when you thought Hollywood was making some progress, New Line Cinema goes off and does something incredibly inane by telling cinema-master Peter Jackson that his services are no longer needed!!?!??*&!!?? Apparently they feel he made too much money off of The Lord of the Rings which has grossed over $3 billion worldwide so they're going to hire someone else to produce The Hobbit! Freakin' morons!!
I just hope they don't hire some hack director like Spielberg who's going to butcher it! Unbelieveable!!

Location: Dallas, Texas | it's all because of a long standing lawsuit over royalties from the The Fellowship. pj said he would not discuss hobbit until the suit is resolved so they just cut him loose. ignorant bastards is right!
there is already an upswell of resentment building from fans as evidenced here:

even ian mckellan has something to say:

can't imagine anyone else playing Gandalf! |

| Foolish money matters will end up costing them more than they bargained for! Without Peter Jackson you lose many of the stars which made 'The Fellowship' so successful, not to mention the New Zealand location.
I beleive New Line will come around eventually...that is after they've done their cost-benefit analysis.

| Yes, I could see the Silmarrillion being made. It's almost already broken up into movie-sized bites. What would you rather have? Tom Bombadil? |

Location: Sacramento, California | It looks like the other prequel is simply that The Hobbit is being broken up into two movies for length, to be filmed simultaneously. |

Location: Dallas, Texas | the best place to go for news on the hobbit is http://www.theonering.net. when i first got wind of the LOTR movies i was on this page daily for months and months! i devoured every scrap of info i could and these guys delivered the goods. i expect they'll continue to do so.
looks like pj is too busy with other projects to direct hobbit himself. says he does not want to delay the movies getting made. for me, i can wait if he wants to direct.
