Location: SC, USA | One of the cool librarians at my college just sent me this link. http://sf-encyclopedia.com/ I've only explored a little bit, but it seems like a good site. Rhonda |

Location: Gunnison, Colorado | It's an amazing site! This is the new online version of the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction. The first two (paper) editions were published in '79 and '93, and I believe both won Hugo awards, and the third edition is nominated this year. It's over 3 million words, with over 4 million expected by the time all the articles are updated this year. John Clute is the driving force. While it's mostly "factual," it also has a nice critical perspective in pointing out the most important works in the field, and why they're of interest. It's definitely my first stop for SF-related information... |

Location: UK | That is a great resource. The old print edition was for reference only in the main library 5 miles away, not exactly easy to use. This is wonderful Recently I got the much more lightweight but fascinating The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Science fiction by David Pringle for the princely sum of $1.50 at a second hand shop, obviously never been read at all! A great find.. |
